Avantasia Tickets
Avantasia Tickets
From the mind of rocker Tobias Sammet comes Avantasia, a symphonic power metal group that is widely considered to be the biggest metal supergroup. Founded in 1999, Avantasia has allowed Sammet to work with such greats as Alice Cooper, the Scorpions, KISS, Helloween and more.
Schedule
Fans across Europe with Avantasia tickets will be treated to a lengthy international tour. Stops include performances at Huxleys in Berlin, Aladin in Bremen, the London Forum in London, Le Trianon in Paris, Razmatazz in Barcelona, Sala Riviera in Madrid, Neue Stadthalle Langen in Langen and Sporthalle in Bratislava.
Trivia
Avantasia's name comes from a mixture of the words Avalon and fantasia, which means fantasy. Helloween singer Michael Kiske wanted to keep his name off of the booklet for the first release, and instead was credited as Ernie on the CD. His real name was used for later albums. In 2010, a 12-show tour of Europe, South American and Asia was documented by Amanda Somerville for her YouTube channel. Somerville showed footage of the various shows, as well as interesting backstage moments, rehearsals and other mishaps. The shows for this tour lasted for three hours and were sold out days before they began.
Band
Though the lineup has changed over the years, one member of Avantasia has remained constant: Tobias Sammet. Other current members include Sascha Paeth, Miro and Russell Gilbrook. Before creating the legendary rock band, Sammet was the vocalist and songwriter for the metal band Edguy. He was also their bassist and keyboardist. Later on, Sammet decided to focus his talents on signing. He has also done guest work with Rob Rock on the album "Holy Hell," contributed to the metal opera "Aina" and took part in Revolution Renaissance's "New Era" record.
Breakthrough
When the album "The Scarecrow" was released in 2008, it quickly became the one of the top twenty selling albums in Europe. It also entered the charts in fifteen countries and produced the top ten single "Lost in Space." The success of the album was unexpected, and it led to a festival tour and a headliner at Wacken Open Air.
Hit Albums
The history of Avantasia can be divided up into three periods. The first was between 1992 and 2002 with the release of two full-length albums and a self-titled single. The next period was between 2005 and 2011. This era combined the albums "Lost in Space I and II" and "The Wicked Trilogy," which, in turn, are made up of "The Scarecrow," "The Wicked Symphony" and "Angel of Babylon." Avantasia's most beloved record is "The Wicked Symphony," released in 2010. The album was commercially successful and critically praised for its production and progressive influences. The latest period of the band's releases began in 2011 with their album, "Mystery of Time."
Show Experience
Avantasia is not just a concert; it's a feast for the senses. Large lights project wild, vivid images as lasers flash across the screen. Multiple singers join Sammet on stage to provide killer vocals set amidst wailing guitars. Pulsating drums quickly get your fists in the air while the music continues to build, bringing the packed audience to their feet. Even with all the spectacle going on, Sammet and company still take the time to address the fans, encouraging them to scream and rock out even harder.
