Trivia
Stapleton is great at writing number one hits, not only for himself but for others, too. He has written chart toppers for the likes of George Strait, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker and Kenny Chesney.
Band
While Stapleton has been a writer for a long time, the Kentucky-born musician started performing as the lead singer of a band called the SteelDrivers in 2008. After he left the SteelDrivers in 2010, he tried his hand at a new band, The Jompson Brothers, before striking out on his own as a solo artist in 2013. He was first signed to the Mercury Nashville label, and he released his debut solo album in May 2015.
Breakthrough
Stapleton had success with the SteelDrivers, winning multiple Grammy nominations. However, his breakthrough as a solo artist came with his first single, "What Are You Listening To?" which charted at No. 46 on the country airplay charts.
Hit Albums
Stapleton's first full album, "Traveller," was released by Mercury Nashville in mid-2015. It has done extremely well, reaching the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Country Charts and the No. 14 spot on the overall charts. His single on the album "Tennessee Whiskey," also charted at the No. 46 spot on the country charts.
