History of the original band

Clearwater Creedence Revival is a tribute to American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, which was active in the '60s and '70s. The original band members were John Fogerty (lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter); his brother, Tom Fogerty (guitarist); Stu Cook (bass); and Doug Clifford (drums). Their music included genres like roots rock, swamp rock, Southern rock, blues rock, and country rock. Their lyrics touched on bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River and other elements of Southern United States iconography, concentrating on political and socially-conscious themes about the Vietnam War. Some of their popular studio albums include their debut Creedence Clearwater Revival (1968), followed by three albums in 1969 (Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys. They released Cosmo’s Factory and Pendulum in 1970 and their final album Mardi Gras in1972. The group disbanded in 1972 after four years of success topping the charts.
