Daughtry Biography - From American Idol to Sold Out World Tours
After finishing in fourth place on American Idol back in 2006, Chris Daughtry put together a band along with Josh Steely and Josh Paul, keeping the singer's surname as their stage moniker. Their self-titled debut album proved immensely popular on its release at the end of the year and spawned hit singles like 'What About Now' and 'It's Not Over', the latter hitting the Billboard charts at number four. Along with being certified platinum the record won the band four Grammy Award nominations and sold out tour across the US - a theme that continued with second album Leave This Town in 2009. Cited as a 'proper rock album', it shot straight to number one, with the band invited to return to the American Idol stage once more for a preview performance of single 'No Surprise'.
Another top ten came with Break the Spell in 2011, and with millions of record sales now to their name, singer Chris has come a long way from his days as a mechanic working to support his wife. Indeed, 2013 LP Baptized was penned as a sentimental look back at the family foundations so important to the star. Drawing upon classic rock 'n' roll from the likes of Bryan Adams, the band looked to fill a gap in the market and brought a hard rock sound back to life that the US was missing. After the arrival of their greatest hits album in February 2016, the five piece hit the road for further tour dates.
