Drowning Pool: Calling All Sinners
Dallas-based heavy metal band Drowning Pool have gone through extreme highs and lows, from hit records to a revolving door of singers, but they have maintained a positive outlook and loyalty to their fans that is just as impressive as their continual streak of success. Drowning Pool wanted to do something special for their core fans and are excited to have the opportunity to rock out with their fellow sinners.
Schedule
Drowning Pool and the band Fozzy were co-headliners for their UK/European Tour. They played the Concorde 2 in Brighton, The Cellar in Southampton, Fibbers in York, Waterfront in Norwich, Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, NQ Live in Manchester, Central Station in Wrexham, The Fleece in Bristol and Electric Ballroom in London. Drowning Pool tickets are available for upcoming shows for the Unlucky 13 Sinner Tour. They have many stops in the U.S. and originally were co-headlining with Static X for another UK tour, however, due to Wayne Static's death the concerts have since been cancelled.
Trivia
Drowning Pool named themselves after the 1975 film of the same name (starring Paul Newman). Their music has been featured on many movie soundtracks including Grave Encounters 2, The Punisher, xXx, Stop-Loss and Daredevil. Their songs have been also featured on many WWE and WrestleMania events, "Criminal Minds" (television series), as well as, "Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge."
Band
Drummer Mike Luce and guitarist C.J. Pierce created Drowning Pool in 1996 after moving from New Orleans to Dallas. The group added bassist Stevie Benton and performed as a trio until vocalist Dave Williams joined.
Two years later, Drowning Pool's second demo was recorded and led to a deal with Wind-Up Records. Dave Williams died of natural causes while on tour and began a revolving door of lead singers. Jason Jones took the role in 2004, followed by Ryan McCombs, who stayed through two albums. Former Suicide Hooks singer Jasen Moreno became the permanent singer and debuted with 2013's Resilience.
Breakthrough
After hearing Drowning Pool's first demo, genre legends Sevendust asked the young band to come out on tour with them. The band continued to rise to fame when they performed at Wrestlemania XVIII and Ozzfest during the summers of 2001 and 2002. Their debut album Sinner was certified platinum within six weeks, and the first single, "Bodies," became one of the most-aired videos by a new band on MTV.
Hit Albums
Drowning Pool's second album, Desensitized generated the top 10 single "Step Up." The single "37 Stitches" (from the 2009 album Full Circle) landed in the No. 4 slot on the Active Rock Radio chart. Drowning Pool's self-titled fourth release had the single "Feel Like I Do," which became the band's biggest radio hit, reaching No. 2 on Active Rock radio and staying in the top five for 12 weeks.
Show Experience
A current of energy runs through crowds waiting for Drowning Pool to command the stage. Shows begin with flashing lights, illuminating the backdrop where the band's name prominently stands out. The band members come onto the stage, one at a time, and play their instruments in turn to rile up the crowd. The band maintains this level of energy through the entire show and the audience keeps screaming for more as these heavy metal legends rock out in their natural element.
