Eminem: king of hip-hop to play two nights at Twickenham in July 2018
Considered the Shakespeare of hip hop, global megastar Eminem reinvigorated the genre in the late-90s with his unrivaled MC skills and searing lyrics. With hits such as "The Real Slim Shady", "Stan" and "Cleanin' Out My Closet", he ruled the airwaves across the world for over half a decade in the early-mid 2000s; going on to become the biggest-selling artist of the decade in the US and shifting 155 million records globally.
To the delight of UK fans, Eminem will follow up the release of 2017's Revival – his ninth album and eighth UK number one – with two huge concerts in London in July 2018. The rapper will be at Twickenham Stadium on 14 & 15 July, with his first UK shows since his headline slots at Reading and Leeds Festivals last year.
The gigs will be part of Eminem's first full tour for four years, so make sure you don't miss your chance to catch one of the greatest artists of all time: buy Eminem tickets now at StubHub.
Eminem: two decades at the top of the rap game
Born into a troubled neighbourhood, the young Marshall Mathers spent much of his youth moving between households on an almost yearly basis. Growing up in an uneasy area in Detroit, the performer used storytelling as a form of escapism from bullying and experimented with comic book artistry before delving into hip hop.
He soon formed major rap collective D12 alongside close friend Proof and signed to FBT Productions, with whom he recorded debut album Infinite. The album's rock sensibilities saw it ignored by critics but the rapper came back fighting with the darker, more violent Slim Shady EP which saw him signed by Dr. Dre. He continued his rise to fame with controversial 2000 single "The Real Slim Shady" and narrative-led hit "Stan" (featuring Dido), which saw the artist settle on the fierce, satirical sound that would drive him to global stardom.
The Eminem Show (2002) was a huge worldwide success. Featuring hits such as "Business", "Without Me" and "Sing for the Moment", it topped the album charts in over a dozen countries, and won a Best Rap Album Grammy Awards (making Eminem the first artist to win the award for three consecutive LPs). 2004's Encore was another global hit (selling over 11 million copies) while he continued his attack on pop culture in 2009 with "We Made You" after a four-year hiatus.
The following year saw him begin a long-term collaboration with Rihanna on sombre 2010 bestseller "Love the Way You Lie", leading up to his sixth and seventh consecutive UK number one albums Recovery (2010) and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013). Featuring collaborations with the likes of Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Alicia Keys, 19-track epic Revival was a surprise Christmas number one in 2017, and Slim has since delighted fans by announcing that he will play two shows at Twickenham Stadium this summer.
