Although Feyenoord has enjoyed several names since it was founded in Rotterdam in 1908, possibly one of the most enduring is its nickname 'Club of the People'. This coincided with the beginning of the club's most successful period in history - the two golden decades of the '60s and '70s saw nine major titles and Feyenoord become the first Dutch team to win both the European and Intercontinental Cups. Having played in the Netherlands' premier division (Eredivisie) continually since 1921, Feyenoord is one of the country's most successful clubs.
