Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix Tickets
F1 Austria gives Central Europe a boost
F1 Austria is one of three races held in geographical Central Europe along with those in Germany and Hungary and is a much anticipated midsummer event in the city of Spielberg which held its debut race in 1964 and has since hosted over thirty editions of the Grand Prix. F1 Austria tickets are ready now to buy or sell via StubHub.
A review of Grands Prix in Austria
The military airbase formerly known as Zeltweg Airfield was the original location for the first Grand Prix of Austria in 1964 which was won by Ferrari's Lorenzo Bandini on a fast, narrow track that proved to be ultimately unsuitable for the event and led to the race being dropped from the list of venues until a purpose built track was installed to replace it. The Osterreichring (Austria Circuit) as it was named held its first F1 race in 1970 and would present some exciting races such as the 1982 Grand Prix when Italian Elio de Angelis driving a Lotus-Ford crossed the finish line just ahead of Williams' Keke Rosberg. F1 Austria joins Hungarian Grand Prix, German Grand Prix and Formula One British Grand Prix as other F1 contests held during the summer. French drivers have recorded remarkable successes in Austria winning five of the races held between 1980 and 1986 with Alain Prost topping the podium three times in that span, a record for the venue. After a nine year hiatus, F1 Austria returned in 1997 to a renamed track (A1-Ring) as polesitter Canadian Jacques Villeneuve won the race ahead of the legendary 'Flying Finn' Mika Hakkinen. Heart-stopping action and hotly-contested races are in the offing. F1 Austria tickets are available now for purchase or sale via StubHub.
Austrian fans love F1 Grand Prix racing
F1 Austria would experience its second hiatus from the autosport between 2004 and 2013 when Red Bull took over ownership of a redeveloped circuit at Spielberg and racing returned in 2014 to the delight and relief of sports fans across the country. Mercedes' Nico Rosberg would secure the first of back-to-back titles ushering in a period of success for the engine manufacturer as it would add two additional Austrian titles to make four straight from 2014 to 2017 on the way to quadruple F1 Constructors' Championship crowns. With Red Bull assuming responsibilities for the circuit, it's fairly safe to believe that Austrian and F1 race fans can expect to see more editions of this event down the road, especially given that Red Bull also sponsors one of the most competitive racing teams in the sport itself. That said, it would not be much of a surprise to see this contest develop into one of the premiere races on the European leg of the Grand Prix season.
