Tickets & Tour Information For Fritz Kalkbrenner
Fritz Kalkbrenner Waits for the Drop
Berlin is widely acknowledged as the world centre of house music today. House music's roots are in Detroit, but it's in Berlin that the house music fan can party 24 hours a day to the beats of producers at the absolute forefront of the field. Fritz Kalkbrenner is a stalwart of the Berlin house scene; thankfully for those outside the city, he also takes his unique sounds on tour, giving fans across the world the chance to grab Fritz Kalkbrenner tickets.
Schedule
As an A-list DJ, Kalkbrenner faces frequent invitations to take his Deep House all over the world. He'll be playing shows in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxembourg and two gigs at the legendary Razzmatazz in Barcelona. The tour continues with dates in Utrecht, Paris and Basel, as well as a homecoming show in Berlin and other German gigs in Bremen, Hamburg and Frankfurt. He wraps up this junket with shows in Poland, Austria, Holland and, for British fans looking to score tickets, a final stop at Electric Brixton in London.
Trivia
In addition to his career as a music DJ and producer, Kalkbrenner also works as a critic and music journalist. He has worked for radio stations including Germany's MDR, and TV stations including MTV and Deutsche Welle. He is brothers with fellow famous DJ and electronic musician Paul Kalkbrenner - the two have worked together often, including on the soundtrack to Hannes Stöhr's film Berlin Calling. The movie even featured a cameo from Fritz.
Performer
Fritz Kalkbrenner grew up in Lichtenberg, a district in East Berlin notable for its socialist-style row house apartment buildings. He was highly influenced by his older brother Fritz, who got involved in the techno scene following the fall of the Berlin wall. He distinguishes himself from his brother's style, though, by focusing on warmer ambiances and maintaining a more traditional performing style for a DJ. While Paul often remixes his tracks lives and breaks them up into shorter, modular sections for live performance, Fritz acts more in the style of dance DJ, preferring to let tracks play out and build over long periods in the tradition of Detroit House.
Breakthrough
Fritz's breakthrough came with his work as a producer and performer on the soundtrack to the hit 2008 film Berlin Calling, a touching dark comedy which starred his brother, Paul, in a semi-autobiographical turn as a DJ institutionalised for drug abuse. The soundtrack to that film produced the hit "Sky and Sand," which features Fritz's vocals and Paul's production. The track has been used in many commercials and peaked at #2 in Belgium, while charting across Western European countries.
Hit Albums
Since his breakthrough into the music business, Fritz has been producing and releasing albums steadily. He's loyally represented by the German electro label Suol Records, who have put out four of his full-lengths: Here Today Gone Tomorrow in 2010; Suol Mates and Sick Travellin' in 2012; and, Ways Over Water in 2014. In addition to his full-length releases, he has put out more than a dozen singles, remixes and EPs.
Show Experience
This prolific and rising DJ knows how to keep a crowd moving and listening. He calculates his live sets to the setting, knowing how to put on a 3-hour late-night set at Ibiza or a tamer, but equally memorable, headlining venue gig in Budapest or Warsaw. Fritz Kalkbrenner is down-to-earth and dedicated to pleasing his fans - audiences know that with tickets to Kalkbrenner they're not going to get a diva DJ who refuses to play at the last minute. Instead, they'll get track after track of original and remixed Deep House that they can bliss out to deep into the night.
