Getafe CF Tickets
The return of Getafe FC to the greats
In the summer of 2016, the team had an experienced squad and their sights were set on returning to the top tier of Spanish football. In September, coach José Bordalás was hired to change up the dynamics of the team. Coming from Alicante, the new coach was fresh from successfully promoting another team, Deportivo Alavés, to the Primera Division three months earlier. For the fans, the threat of a relegation to Segunda B suddenly turned into the hope of achieving a return to the top Spanish league. After winning a playoff battle against Tenerife, the team was indeed back among the greats. You can buy or sell your Getafe FC tickets via StubHub now.
A derby at the top
The 2017/18 season again had José Bordalás leading Getafe after renewing his contract. But there was another challenge for the team that year, a clásico of their own: they played their Madrid rivals, CD Leganés, at the top level of Spanish football for the first time. There was never a derby in the history of the game in Spain that had been played at every other level except for the top. It was a true celebration for both teams; the positive vibes on the field could be felt between the managers as well as the owners before the match. According to official statistics, 62% of the population of the Madrid metropolitan area support Real Madrid and 22% Atlético de Madrid, which doesn't leave much room for smaller teams. That's one of the reasons why this matchup between Getafe and CD Leganés celebrates some of the best parts of the game.
Getafe FC's history and advertising prowess
Getafe FC tickets are regularly in demand, as the team has a habit of using unorthodox marketing tactics to draw their supporters to the stadium. The "Getafinder" campaign, for example, encouraged the fans to download a dating app that connects male and female fans of the team so they can "create more fans". But do not be fooled by their sense of humour; this is a team with a serious, almost centennial history. The Getafe Football Club was founded in 1924 but has played in lower divisions until 1938. After WWII, five locals formed the local team, officially founded on the 24th of February, 1946. The club was named Club Getafe Deportivo. After a merger with another team and a lengthy struggle in the lower divisions, Getafe is at the top tier of Spanish soccer. They even host their matches at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium, which was officially open as of January 1st, 1998.
