Experience the action with the Go Ahead Eagles!
Founded in 1902 as "Be Quick" only to be ironically renamed "Go Ahead" shortly thereafter, the Deventer-based club was named the Eagles by British coach Barry Hughes in 1971. The rest, as they say, is history. Four-time winners of the Dutch national championship, the Go Ahead Eagles are a historic club with a dedicated fan base that transforms any match day into an unforgettable experience. For a piece of passionate Dutch football, step into the Eagles' nest and buy your Go Ahead Eagles tickets now at StubHub.
Go Ahead Eagles: the pride of the IJssel?
Situated in the Netherlands, Go Ahead Eagles have a proud footballing heritage whose legacy changed the sport forever. The concept of Total Football, as played by those famous Dutch national teams, was nothing short of a tactical revolution; its principles can be seen to this day, both in Dutch football and around the world. The Go Ahead Eagles play their football matches at the appropriately named De Adelaarshorst - "The Eagle's Nest" - in the centre of the city of Deventer. For years the Eagles were considered the greatest team in their region; however, recent times have seen a resurgence from their neighbours down the river IJssel, PEC Zwolle. Any showdown between the two Dutch clubs, called the IJssel-derby, is fiercely competitive. On those occasions, the 10,000-seater Adelaarshorst stadium is sure to be a sell-out. Whether you want to buy or list for sale, StubHub is the place to go for all your Go Ahead Eagles tickets.
The checkered history of the Go Ahead Eagles
You have to go back some time to spot the Go Ahead Eagles' greatest achievements: winning the national championship in 1917, 1922, 1930 and 1933. However, they have most certainly had their part to play in more recent footballing history as well. In the 1971-72 season, the Go Ahead Eagles earned the famous accolade of being the only side to beat Ajax in any competition, thus defeating the legendary team that featured Johann Cruyff at the height of his power. One of the club's greatest exports was Marc Overmars, who joined the Go Ahead Eagles' youth team in 1987 and left the club in 1991, going on to become an iconic player for footballing giants such as Arsenal and Barcelona. Overmars returned to play one final season for Go Ahead Eagles in 2008 before retiring due to a persistent knee injury. To get a slice of this history, buy or sell your Go Ahead Eagles tickets now.
