Gun Biography - Still Rocking Despite Having Seen 'Better Days'

Starting out under the name of Blind Allez and led by frontman Mark Rankin, this Scottish hair metal band burst onto the music scene in 1989 with their debut album Taking on the World. Their early single 'Better Days' became a signature hit, hitting the UK Top 40, helping them secure high profile supporting slots for iconic acts including Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and The Rolling Stones on their Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle European tour. In 2010, Classic Rock magazine named their first record one of the Top 150 Debut Albums of All Time.

Gun followed up with their sophomore album Gallus in 1992 which hit the heights of the UK Top 20, off the back of hit singles including 'Steal Your Fire' and 'Welcome to the Real World'. The band released fan-favourite Swagger in 1994, which featured four songs that landed in the Top 40 Singles Chart, including the band's highest-charting single, a cover of Cameo's classic R&B/funk single 'Word Up!' which reached No. 8. The top selling outfit rounded off the 1990s with their album 0141 632 6326, featuring the hits 'Crazy You' and 'My Sweet Jane'.
