Karlsruher SC, the Eurofighters of the Bundesliga
Karlsruher SC, better known as KSC or the "Eurofighters", were one of the original 16 clubs that formed the Bundesliga. They've played in all three divisions, with a purple patch in the 1990s under Winfried Schäfer as coach. They've had middling success in Europe as well, and although international success has eluded them, support has always been very strong, so buying or selling Karlsruher SC tickets on StubHub is always really easy.
An early taste of professional football success
The Karlsruher SC club, like many modern-day professional German football teams, was the result of a succession of mergers in the early part of its history. The most significant of these was when VfB Mühlburg United combined with KFC Phoenix in 1952, which produced the direct forerunner of the current club, the Karlsruher Sport-Club Mühlburg-Phönix. Success followed almost immediately, with a victory in the DFB Pokal cup final over FC Schalke 04 and an appearance in the German national championship, where they lost in the final to Borussia Dortmund. This success unfortunately was didn't last, and the club floundered for the next while in the second division, before beginning a resurgence in the 1980s, which revived the sales of Karlsruher SC tickets. It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride for a while, however, but the team was about to put themselves on a more solid Bundesliga platform with the arrival of their most successful coach, Winfried Schäfer. It was during this era that they earned themselves the "Eurofighters" nickname among their fans, who began flocking to their home ground at Wildparkstadion.
Long-awaited progress in the Bundesliga and European football
When their new coach arrived, Karlsruher SC had established a pattern of struggling in the bottom half of the league whenever they found themselves competing in the first division of the Bundesliga, but their misfortune would soon come to an end. They even made an impact in the European cup competition in 1994, where they enjoyed some stunning results. They faced the mighty Dutch PSV Eindhoven in the first round, and having disposed of them, came up against Spanish league champions, Valencia CF. Automatically considered underdogs, they shocked the European football world by thrashing them 7-0. They made it to the semi-finals, ultimately losing to Austria Salzburg. This golden era lasted until the new millennium, however since then, the club has struggled once again, bouncing between the first and second divisions, and even visiting the third division on a few occasions. One thing that hasn't changed is the immersive experience you can expect at their matches when you get Karlsruher SC tickets on StubHub.
