Lapsley Biography - A Breakthrough Star

Born in York, Holly Fletcher started performing under her middle name, which was also her mother's maiden name. During her formative years, she joined a number of bands and experimented with classical music, becoming adept at the oboe, piano and guitar. A breakthrough moment came when she won the 'One to Watch' prize at Merseyside's GIT (Getintothis) Awards in April 2014, but given she'd already gained over half a million Soundcloud streams of her EP Monday (which was recorded in her bedroom), the gong was richly deserved. After performing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2014, she was spotted and championed by BBC Radio 1 DJ's Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe.

Now signed to XL Records, the label that signed trailblazing acts like White Stripes and The Prodigy, she has finally released her debut record Long Way Home. Anambitious, fresh and versatile artist, her sound draws comparisons to James Blake because of her electro infused style, but she's truly forging her own path.
