Los Planetas Tickets
The indie rock genre has come to represent eclectic, underground groups from the 90s, and hailing from Granada, Spain, Los Planetas is a primary example. This lighthearted group mixes keyboard strokes and guitar riffs to create a pleasant melodic harmony, bringing the music to life and generating a sense of euphoria by mimicking the feeling of outer space. With a clear influence from and debt to great indie rock forebears like Joy Division and Mercury Rev, Los Planetas have been pleasing fans from the early beginnings of the indie genre with their provocative tracks and passionate lyrics.
Schedule
The band is truly global, playing gigs in their native Spain as well as throughout Latin America. They are a fan favourite in Mexico, having played their hits "Un Buen Dia" and "Y Ademas Es Imposible" in cities like Tijuana and Pachuca to sold out crowds of fans with Los Planetas tickets. They have brought their concerts to fans throughout Europe as well, making their live music accessible to many of their admirers. After their time in Latin America, the group will head to London and Barcelona to start their European tour.
Trivia
One doesn't need to speak Spanish to understand that the band's name translates to The Planets, but you'd be surprised at how much influence their title has on the music they create. Their tracks contain futuristic sounds akin to those one might find in a Daft Punk record, such as use of the synth and pop beats, while their albums have titles like Basic Principles of Astronomy and Encounters with Entities. That notwithstanding, their latest works have also been influenced by their homeland's popular and iconic dance, the "flamenco," along with the music that accompanies it. All these weird quirks come together to create the peculiar identity of Los Planetas.
Band/Singer
In its two decades of existence, the band has had a total of 13 band members, with five currently running the show. The group's current membership consists of Juan Cervilla leading the vocals, Florentino Lozano on guitar, Ernesto Linares on the drums, Esteban Maldonado on keyboards and Julian Podadera on the bass guitar. The group has had 8 other past members in their group, all of which have contributed to the 10 albums under the band's belt and created 22 years of creating hits for the Spanish indie scene.
Breakthrough
The band first hit the scene with the single "Que puedo hacer?," "What can I do?," from their debut album Super 8. This track propelled them to stardom through the help of Spanish public radio, catching the attention of RCA-BMG Music Spain, which signed them on. More successes followed with every album, including 1996's Pop and continued to 2010's Una Opera Egipcia, An Egyptian Opera.
Hit Albums
Los Planetas have had an abundance of albums, averaging a new one every two years. They are most known for their hits in albums like Unidad de Desplazamiento, Pop and Super 8. They have also released two compilation albums that contained their large volume of work not otherwise on CD, such as the 25+ EPs and singles. These albums, Principios basicos de astronomia and Canciones para una orquesta química brought to light their works that were previously unknown to the general population. 2015's Dobles Fatigas has proven to be yet another success, and is the cause for their popularity in and subsequent tour throughout Latin America.
Show Experience
Anyone with Los Planetas tickets should prepare themselves for an immersive experience complete with light shows and special effects led by vocalist Juan Cervilla, otherwise known as Jota. Expect a broad spectrum of quality Spanish indie music, as the band is notorious for playing hits originating from their success in the mid-90s to more contemporary singles. Fans will experience a ride through Los Planetas's guitar-rich, rock-derived tracks, as well as their ventures influenced by traditional flamenco music, providing for a lively and worthwhile performance.
