Marc Martel Tickets
Marc Martel sings Queen and Christian rock
Marc Martel is probably one of the most heard rock singers in the world, but almost no one knows it. He's a Canadian singer-songwriter whose voice was used as the backbone of the vocal tracks in the Queen and Freddie Mercury box office smash movie, "Bohemian Rhapsody". His own music is of the Christian contemporary variety, and this is the sort of combination you can expect when you buy or sell Marc Martel tickets on StubHub.
A stellar early career with Downhere
Marc Martel began his musical career with his college band, Downhere. Playing contemporary Christian country-tinged rock they spent more than a decade winning Canadian mainstream and Christian music awards, including a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association of the USA, a good few Covenant Awards from the Canadian Gospel Music Association, and four Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys. The band released 10 albums that covered the four years during which they were all students at the Briercrest College and Seminary in the province of Saskatchewan, and the latter part of their career when they moved to Nashville as soon as they left college. Having found themselves in one of the musical capitals of the world, they took full advantage and toured relentlessly through all 50 states in the US and as far as north Africa. Marc Martel tickets promise a journey through the greatest hits of these days, as well as the best of his solo career.
A solo career and vocals for "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Once Downhere had broken up, Marc Martel was at something of a loose end, by his own admission. Encouraged by his friends, who had always remarked on the uncanny resemblance his voice bore to that of Freddie Mercury, he recorded and uploaded a cover of Queen's hard rock ballad "Somebody To Love" as his entry into a competition run by Queen's Roger Taylor to find a singer for his upcoming tribute musical, The Queen Extravaganza. He won a spot on the gig and toured with the show, which led to an extraordinary breakthrough when he was asked to record Freddie Mercury's vocals for the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody". It's his voice that movie-goers heard, singing along with Rami Malek's to ensure that the great Queen frontman's vocal timbre was perfectly captured. Capitalising on this, the singer returned to his Christian rock career as a solo artist, with much success, recording with peers like Alison Krauss too. You can get Marc Martel tickets on StubHub.
