Natos y Waor, Madrid's hip-hop rebels
Natos y Waor are a pair of rappers who perform as a duo all over their native Spain, and in plenty of other countries around the world. They have a gritty style of hip-hop that, while not falling completely into the gangsta rap genre, has confrontational lyrics concerning social and political issues. Their music is delivered with characteristic musical minimalism, so if you're a fan of hard-edged young hip-hip then you'll surely want to buy or sell Natos y Waor tickets on StubHub.
Mixing generations of hip-hop flavours
Natos y Waor has a distinctive old-school flavour to their hip-hop. They've obviously been strongly influenced by the first wave of rap crossover hip-hop that swept the US in the 1980s, when bands like Run DMC, NWA, and Public Enemy ruled the streets and the beatboxes from New York to LA. The energy factor is high, with rapid fire delivery and unison rapping that has the two of them riffing off each other in a consummately professional way. They've become one of the most important cult hip-hop outfits in Spain, blending this more traditional rap sound with more modern elements; they also count the solo rap gunslingers of the 1990s as influences, so when you find yourself with Natos y Waor tickets you can expect the kind of sonic assault that you'd also get with the likes of the legendary Def Jam artist DMX. There's plenty of fire and brimstone here, which is why the duo have won so many Spanish music awards.
A solid slice of modern Spanish street rap
Natos y Waor operate in the same sort of musical territory as a host off Spanish hip-hop bands and artists, some of them contemporaries, like Ayax y Prok, and some of them are newer kids on the block. Their current music still sounds as fresh as it did when they first burst onto the Spanish hip-hop scene, in 2010. They're technically a Spanish-Argentinian band, as Natos (also known as Gonzalo Cidre), was born in Buenos Aires. His partner, Fernando Hisado, who makes up the "Waor" part of the duo was born and bred in Madrid. They've been compared to many other Spanish rap bands, and have themselves influenced plenty of newer players, and you'll often be able to catch them either at large music festivals during the summer months, or at some of the hottest rap and hip-hop venues across Spain. The awards have come in the wake of their album releases too, and they won Best Hip-Hop Album at the PMI Awards in 2016 for "Tuesday 13", their fourth album. You'll probably also be able to catch them performing with some of the other Spanish rap standard bearers, so look out for the likes of Hard GZ or RecycledJ as well, when you buy yourself Natos y Waor tickets on StubHub.
