Electrifying Ukraine and Beyond: Okean Elzy Tickets
Okean Elzy has been mesmerising crowds all over the world since their formation in 1994. They have become a world-famous rock act and one of Ukraine's most successful bands in history. Their electrifying live act makes it clear how much they love to perform, and they continue to play all over the world to loving fans and large, enthusiastic crowds.
Schedule
The world tours see them performing on different dates at the Places des Arts in Montreal and the Hershey Centre in Canada as well as throughout the United States. Venues include Webster Hall in New York, the Avalon Ballroom in Los Angeles, and a handful of European shows in November. Stops include London, Frankfurt, and Minsk. Those who don't call any of those places home should consider locking down Okean Elzy tickets and taking the trip -- the shows are well-worth the travel time.
Trivia
Okean Elzy has been socially engaged throughout their existence. Notable events include performing a 2006 concert in Kosovo to perform for an international contingent of peace keepers, and releasing a promotional Football World Cup song in Germany in support of the Ukrainian national team, in which the proceeds went to a child care centre for AIDS victims. In 2013, they performed at the Euromaidan protests and have continued to be vocal about Ukrainian society and culture.
Band/Singer
Two of the four original members of Okean Elzy are still in the band -- Svyatoslav Vakarchuk on lead vocals and Denys Hlinin on drums. The rest of the current lineup consists of Vladimir Opsenitsa on guitar (a 2013 addition to the group), Denys Dudko on bass, and Milos Jelic on piano and synthesisers.
Breakthrough
The bands early demo tapes (efficiently named DEMO '94-'95) were widely circulated and led to a grassroots swell in their Ukrainian fan base. They played Ukraine's major festivals in 1995 (Chervona Ruta and Melodiya) and began their long and fruitful career as an international touring band, playing concert halls and festivals all over Europe in 1996. A music video from 1998 for the song "Tam, de nas nema" exploded in popularity and became the first Ukrainian music video to be featured on MTV Russia. In the years since, they have kept up a steady pace of touring and record releases, ensuring a continually growing presence and a loyal fan base.
Hit Albums
Their debut studio album Tam, de nas nema (named after the hit single and put out on Kiev's Lavina Music label) was released in 1998 and immediately skyrocketed the group to success. The album's name comes from a Ukrainian proverb meaning: "It's good where we aren't." They've followed this album with a number of major successes, including 2001's Model, 2010's Dolce Vita, and 2013's Zemlya. In 2002, they put out an acoustic record called Tyiv Format. This change of instrumentation allowed them to explore their themes with a pared-back and more lyrical sound. 2005's Gloria, which featured expansive use of synthesisers, produced four #1 singles domestically in Ukraine.
Show Experience
Okean Elzy is a band that knows how to engage a crowd. Whether they're performing at a major international protest, a fundraiser, or a world-class concert hall, Okean Elzy can win over any audience with their exciting live antics and huge sound. They performed over 100 concerts around the world in 2010 in support of their album Dolce Vita, and fans can only hope that they return to that hectic pace, thereby providing plenty of opportunities to buy tickets to see this legendary band live.
