Olly Murs: prolific UK hitmaker
While finishing second on The X-Factor could deflate other acts, lovable rogue Olly Murs used it as a springboard to greater things, regularly topping the charts with his brand of infectious pop music. Back in 2010, he released his first single "Please Don't Let Me Go", which was an instant hit that would go on to become the singer's first number one. The record was from his self-titled debut album that also featured standout tracks "Thinking Of Me" and "Heart on My Sleeve", and was followed up after a brief period presenting The Xtra Factor in 2011 - then his second album In Case You Didn't Know. Supporting the One Direction boys on their North American tour, crowds went wild for his opening set that featured tracks such as "Heart Skips A Beat" which reached number one on the UK single charts and the Flo Rida collaboration "Troublemaker".
Unsurprisingly, fourth studio album Never Been Better went down just as well with fans as the previous three releases, most notably for top 20 single "Wrapped Up", which featured hip-hop star Travie McCoy and "Up" - a smash hit with Demi Lovato, which was her first platinum in the UK. Earworm track "Kiss Me" remained in the chart for an incredible 25 weeks. 2016's "You Don't Know Love" was the lead single from ahead of Murs' fifth record 24HRS, which was another UK album chart topper. With the release of sixth album expected shortly, a UK tour is likely to follow; hitting huge venues across the country.
