Salvador Sobral: the long journey to the top

Salvador Sobral’s first entry into the world of show business came by competing on the talent competition "Ídolos" in 2009, appearing on the TV show two years after his sister Luísa starred in the show’s first season. While he didn’t win the competition, the stage was clearly calling Salvador and he left his psychology degree to pursue a career in music. Moving between the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Tenerife, the singer returned to his native Lisbon to release his debut album, "Excuse Me", in 2016. Clearly good things come to those who wait: the release entered the Top 10 in the Portuguese album charts and, not long after, Salvador was selected to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Amar pelos dois". From strength to strength

After becoming something of a national hero for delivering Portugal’s first Eurovision win in 53 years, Salvador Sobral received the Portuguese Order of Merit along with his sister Luísa Sobral, who wrote and composed "Amar pelos dois". In 2017 he appeared at the Lisbon Super Bock Super Rock Music Festival as part of the group Alexander Search, but soon after took a break from performing due to health reasons. His return to the music scene came with his beautiful second studio album, "Paris, Lisboa", which features Salvador singing in four different languages and hit the top of the Portuguese album charts, representing his rise to becoming one of the country’s most-loved artists.
