Skepta - From Meridian to Manhattan

Hailing from Tottenham, London, Joseph Junior Adengua started his music career producing instrumentals and performing on local pirate radio stations with the Meridian Crew. It wasn't until just before the Meridian Crew disbanded that he was persuaded to try emceeing by the godfather of grime, Wiley. His talent recognised quickly, he and his brother (fellow grime artist JME) joined the prolific Roll Deep crew for a short period before become a founding member of the independent label Boy Better Know in 2006, from which he released his first two albums.

In 2010 he signed with a major label and released his third studio album Doin' It Again, achieving chart success with three singles appearing in the UK Top 40. After a disappointing reaction to singles from his upcoming fourth album he decided to release mixtape Blacklisted. Returning to a more authentic grime after commercial departures, the 2014 single 'That�s Not Me' seems to be a disavowal of his recent glamourous past. With the release of a new album Konnichiwa looming, this is one artist not to miss live.
