The group, which formed after the demise of late '80s psych-rockers Spacemen 3, is centred on the songwriting talents of Jason Pierce. Over the past two decades this turbulent talent has remained the only constant member, with new musicians joining and leaving between each of their various studio albums. While this may not benefit inter-band relations, it certainly ensures each LP brings something new and fresh to the table, albeit rarely straying too far from a spacey, ethereal sound.
