Steve 'n' Seagulls Tickets
Even though the casual observer may disagree, heavy metal and bluegrass music actually have a lot in common with each other. Both genres feature virtuosic playing, guitar-heavy arrangements and breakneck tempos. It was only a matter of time before a group of forward-thinking musicians combined the two styles, and now that group is here: Steve 'n' Seagulls.
Schedule
Steve 'n' Seagulls tickets are now available all over the world. They are scheduled to play a series of gigs throughout Europe, such as at Germany's Weinturm Open Air, Italy's Il Reposo di Augusto and Norway's Rekord Festivalen. In the U.S., the band will be playing shows at the Red 7 in Austin, Kansas City's Riot Room, The High Watt in Nashville and Milkboy in Philadelphia. They'll also be travelling to Russia to play in Moscow and St. Petersburg, then back to Germany to play at Private Club in Berlin and Rock Cafe in St. Pauli, as well as six other shows. Interspersed with the German shows are five dates in the Netherlands and one in Verviers, Belgium. The tour will wrap up with six UK shows, including sets at Dingwalls in London and Stereo in Glasgow.
Trivia
Band member Hiltunen plays a wide variety of instruments depending on the needs of the song, including everything from mandolin to accordion to piano and other keyboard-based instruments. The band is also known for almost exclusively playing covers. Their "Farm Machine" album was the first to feature an original recording, "Grand Opening.
Band
The members of Steve 'n' Seagulls were not initially trying to start a long-term project together. The group of friends recorded a video of themselves playing the AC/DC song "Thunderstruck" in a barn, intending it to be a one-off, but decided to continue making music together after the video's unexpected viral success. The band consists of guitarist/vocalist Remmel, percussionist Puikkonen, bassist Pukki Kaalinen, multi-instrumentalist Hiltunen and banjo player Herman.
Breakthrough
Steve 'n' Seagulls first became widely known when several videos of them covering heavy metal classics went viral on YouTube. The band attracted attention with their version of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" that featured a percussion part played on an anvil. Expanding on this initial success, the band released more YouTube videos in the same style, playing heavy metal songs on acoustic instruments in rural settings. All this attention eventually resulted in the band getting signed to Spine Farm records in early 2015.
Hit Albums
Following the success of their YouTube videos, Steve 'n' Seagulls released their album, "Farm Machine," on the Spine Farm label. The album features covers of songs by Dio, Led Zeppelin, Guns 'n' Roses, Metallica and Iron Maiden. The band has also achieved viral success with performance videos of their covers of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" and Metallica's "Seek and Destroy." Their original "Thunderstruck" video has over 10 million plays on YouTube.
Show Experience
Steve 'n' Seagulls put on an energetic and humorous stage show, as one could expect from watching their videos. The band members dress up as American hillbillies and poke fun at both metal and country stereotypes, chewing on stalks of hay while head-banging furiously. You shouldn't let their comedic presentation fool you though: Steve 'n' Seagulls are all seriously talented musicians who could clearly be in 'serious' bluegrass or metal bands if they wanted to. Fans of both shredding and comedy will leave the show satisfied.
