The Amazons: taking indie rock forward

The band were formed in the British city of Reading in 2014 with frontman Matt Thomson, guitarist Chris Alderton, Elliott Briggs on bass and Joe Emmet on drums. While working in a supermarket, lead singer Thomson would add demo CDs to shopper’s purchases to help raise the band’s profile. However, the music soon took care of that. In 2015, they released their debut EP, "Don’t You Wanna", producing hit tracks including "Junk Food Forever" and "Ultraviolet", which became instant anthems for their grassroots fan base and in the wider alternative rock scene. From this single EP release, they were invited to support The Kooks on the band’s European tour, playing a number of dates across the continent, and established themselves as one of indie rock’s most exciting new prospects with the release of their self-entitled debut studio album in 2016. The new sound of rock ‘n’ roll

By 2017, the band were being named as one of the most exciting new artists by publications including The Independent, MTV and BBC Radio 1 and their debut album, released on Fiction Records, peaked in the top ten of the British album charts. After touring across the UK and internationally, the band released the live album "Come the Fire, Come the Evening" in 2018, showcasing recorded performances of their well-loved songs including "Black Magic" and "Millions (The Party)". Their second studio album, "Future Dust", was released in 2019 and earned the boys from Reading another top ten success, this time with a heavier sound that drew inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Howlin’ Wolf. This new, raw sound proved to be a huge success with fans as the band continued to perform at some of the world’s biggest festivals and at the best venues.
