Returning in 2018 with new album Trench, exciting rap duo Twenty One Pilots look set to build on the success of their UK top five album Blurryface. Featuring catchy singles about everyday life such as "Fairly Local", "Tear in My Heart" and "Lane Boy", the band's audience continues to grow thanks to their relatable lyrics and catchy tunes. Tyler Joseph's lyrics are autobiographical, with the character of Blurryface especially created for the record to represent the insecurities of himself and everyone else. Grammy Award-winning song "Stressed Out" (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance) is written from the figure's perspective, with the refrain of "My name's Blurryface, and I care what you think" heard regularly throughout.

Twenty One Pilots: Grammy Award-winning duo

Founded in 2009 by Tyler Joseph and his two school friends Nick Thomas and Chris Salih, Twenty One Pilots quickly earned a regional following throughout their native Ohio. However, unable to commit to music full time beyond the group's eponymous debut, Thomas and Salih decided to focus on their careers. The quartet became a duo when Josh Dun was brought in to play percussion alongside multi-instrumentalist Joseph, and they began to focus on refining the alternative hip-hop sound that would become their staple.

After self-releasing second LP Regional at Best as a two-piece, they were signed to the Fueled by Ramen label, with follow-up records Vessel and Blurryface (a UK Album Chart top five hit) released in 2013 and 2015 respectively. With a slot supporting Fall Out Boy and an appearance on US talk show Conan O'Brien in 2013, the duo began to gain popularity both across America and abroad; and they've now gained a considerable following in the UK.
