W.A.S.P. Metal legends to tour UK in October 2017 with concerts in London, Leeds and Nottingham
Bring on the glam of 80s hair metal; W.A.S.P. are ready to come back and rock your world. Joining the ranks of Motley Crue, Poison and RATT, W.A.S.P. helped establish the hair metal scene with their outrageous clothes, suggestive lyrics and wild stage antics. While most classic heavy metal hair bands are perfectly content touring once in a while, the Los Angeles-based band have kept a strong momentum of tour dates and album releases, cementing their status as one of the hardest working bands in the business.
After thrilling fans across Europe, W.A.S.P. will play their first concerts in the UK for over two years when they visit: Hastings; Nottingham; Leeds; Newcastle; Glasgow; Belfast; Dublin; Wolverhampton; Manchester; Buckley; Cardiff; Bristol and Norwich for their Crimson Idol 25th Anniversary Tour in October 2017.
In the early days of W.A.S.P, fans who bought W.A.S.P. tickets could expect to see people chained up on stage and have Blackie Lawless throw raw meat at them. Although things have calmed down slightly since then, fans can still expect to see a few hair metal staples: bright lights, tight clothes, fog, and most importantly, the volume turned up all the way. Don't miss out on a night of hair-raising heavy metal – buy W.A.S.P. tickets at StubHub today.
W.A.S.P. behind the name and revolving door of members
People might assume that W.A.S.P.'s name comes from a certain flying insect; however, fans started thinking otherwise since it is spelled as an acronym. Lead singer Blackie Lawless shrugged off any meaning in early interviews, but his avoidance didn't stop die-hard fans from coming up with their own theories. Such suggestions included We Are So Perfect, We Are So Powerful and We Ate Savoury Pancakes. Lawless later claimed the full stops were used to help the band stand out amongst the crowd.
W.A.S.P. have seen many band members come and go over the years; however, one thing remains the same: singer Blackie Lawless. Lawless has stood with the band since 1982, keeping the W.A.S.P. sound alive and well. Original band members included Randy Piper, Tony Richards and Rik Fox. W.A.S.P. have also seen their share of guest musicians join the lineup, such as The Runaways lead singer Lita Ford, who had a stint with the band in 1993. Joining Lawless in the current roster of the glamtastic hair band are Doug Blair and Mike Duda.
W.A.S.P. 15 studio albums; 12 million in sales
W.A.S.P.'s 1984 self-titled debut album helped introduce the world to their over-the-top-antics, while second album, 1985's The Last Command (featuring popular songs such as "Wild Child", "Fistful of Diamonds" and "Jack Action") remains the band's best-selling record, having peaked at number 47 on the US Billboard Top 100 Chart. The "Blind in Texas" band have released a total of 15 studio albums, including Inside the Electric Circus, The Unholy Terror, and The Neon God: Parts 1 and 2, and their latest record, Golgatha. In total, W.A.S.P. have sold over 12 million copies of their albums.
