We Are Scientists: New York duo announce new album and UK tour

Over a decade after the release of breakthrough album With Love and Squalor, New York alt-rockers We Are Scientists returned in 2018 with sixth offering Megaplex – a record which the duo promised would be a synth-driven electro-pop 'fun bomb'. 

Preceded by futuristic single "One In One Out", Megaplex was released on 27 April and, much to the delight of UK fans, was then followed up by a massive tour. We Are Scientists will call at 11 venues across the UK throughout October 2018. So what are you waiting for? We Are Scientists: over a decade in the indie-pop business

After meeting in California back in 1997, Keith Murray and Chris Cain initially bonded over a love for stand-up comedy. Instead though, they opted to form a band in 2000, and started to take things seriously after moving to New York. Safety, Fun and the Learning (In That Order) was released on their own independent label and soon caught the attention of music fans across the city, resulting in Virgin Records picking them up. Their first official record With Love and Squalor proved to be just the breakthrough they needed; gaining a cult following across the globe – most notably in the UK. Singles "The Great Escape", "Inaction" and "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt" gave them indie-God status, and their live shows are the perfect blend of rock and humour.

Follow up Brain Thrust Mastery saw similar success when it was released in 2008, with single "After Hours" named Jo Whiley's 'Pet Sound' on BBC Radio 1 and "Let's See It" used in an episode of popular TV drama Gossip Girl. After countless appearances at major UK festivals, from T in the Park to Leeds and Reading, another three hit albums arrived in the form of Barbara, TV en Francais and Helter Seltzer.
